The Externals and Industries portfolio aims to upskill students in the job application process as well as create a connection between industry and university through the next step, careers, and networking events. Each and every student should feel confident and happy about their future in science.

What events do we run?
Careers Workshops
In order to better prepare students for life and a career beyond university, the externals portfolio run careers nights with guest speakers from a range of fields, to give students insight into the process of entering different scientific pathways. Each event focuses on a specific career path, with a guest speaker from their area of study, to give students insight into that career pathway, and better prepare them for a future in the STEM workforce.
Networking Evenings
Our yearly Networking evening gives students the opportunity to hear from and talk to a range of industry professionals, and begin to build relationships that will help lead to future career prospects. The event connects UWA students with representatives from a range of companies and industries to diversify their future job prospects and professional network.

About My Role: Hey! I’m the Externals Vice President for our science club. My role is all about connecting with other clubs, organizations, and professionals outside our group.
I work on setting up collaborations, bringing in guest speakers, and organizing events to keep our club engaged with the wider science community. It’s all about building connections and creating opportunities to learn and grow.
